What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling, also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a minimally invasive procedure for skin-rejuvenation. Which involves the use of a device that contains fine needles that puncture the skin to induce a controlled skin injury. This minor skin injury produces a channel that triggers the skin to fill microscopic wounds, by producing brand new elastin and collagen. Through this process of neocollageneisis and neovasculatrization, the skin will begin to show improvement in firmness, texture, pore size reduction, scar reduction, and stretch mark reduction to reveal new, beautiful skin.
What to Expect From Microneedling
Microneedling can improve moderate acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles, lax skin, pore size, skin texture, and stretch marks. To begin the process, the skin is cleaned, followed by an application of a numbing cream to minimize client discomfort, if necessary. A handheld, pen-like device holding a sterile, disposable tip, which contains 12 miniature needles, is moved along the skin. The tiny needles penetrate the outer layers of the skin up to a depth of 2mm to create many minuscule needle wounds. The process stimulates collagen production and elastin fiber regeneration, with the skin responding by thickening and plumping up, which reduces the visibility of fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. Once the treatment is completed, nurturing Vitamin-C serum is typically applied to assist in healing, hydration, and overall protection of the skin.
Miconeedling treatments can safely be repeated approximately every 4-6 weeks until the desired outcome is reached. The amount of treatments needed for each person is reliant upon how said individual responds to treatment. Many even see results after their first treatment! The only way to determine how many treatments you’ll need is to join one of Symphony’s Representatives in a private, Free Consultation.
Micro-Needling Process for Your Skin
Microneedling is a minimally invasive, non-chemical, procedure to revitalize your skin and trigger skin tissue regeneration. It is also known to stimulate circulation and increase the effectiveness of topical creams. This procedure is safe for all skin types and tones. The titanium, medical-grade needles render the procedure to be non-allergenic to human tissue. We take pride in offering the safest products to our clients with the best results.
The negative aspects of Microneedling are practically non-existent as no negative side effects were reported in over 150,000 treatments practiced worldwide. After treatment, clients should expect the skin to be red, or pink, for up to 12 to 48 hours. It is recommended that hyaluronic acid is applied post procedure to reduce the appearance of skin inflammation. Direct sunlight should be avoided, or a sunblock should be utilized otherwise. It is not recommended to apply AHA’s (Glycolic Acid), acidic ingredients, or retinol for 2-3 days after the procedure.
Microneedling is not recommended for clients who have open wounds or cuts, any active skin infections, have received radiation treatment to the skin in the last year, are pregnant or breast-feeding, or who have utilized Accutane (isotretinoin) in the past three months.
