1. What is Low Level Laser Therapy or Cool Laser For Hair Regrowth?
Low Level Laser Hair Therapy utilizes a series of laser diodes to deliver cool laser energy to the tissue of scalp. Low level laser light is quite different from other lasers used for hair removal or skin rejuvenation treatments, in that it does not produce any heat. It uses a different spectrum of compressed light of a wavelength from the cold, red part of the light range. These properties allow laser light to penetrate to the follicular level of the scalp with no heating effect, no discomfort, and no known side effects. The resulting laser energy stimulates the micro-circulation and improves cellular metabolism and protein synthesis.
2. What is the Difference Between Cosmetic Lasers Versus Medical Lasers For Hair Regrowth?
There are many cosmetic “cool” lasers in the marketplace used for hair restoration. These lasers are NOT approved for hair regrowth and are often found in salons and spas. These devices do not require any medical supervision and only provide the “appearance” of thicker, fuller hair.
There is only ONE DEVICE currently FDA-approved in the United States for hair re-growth and its approval was specifically targeted to women. In addition to slowing down the hair loss process, treatments strengthen existing hair, AND promote the growth of NEW hair from previously dormant follicles. This medical procedure is available at Symphony Laser Center by prescription only, and under medical supervision.
3. How Does the Hair Regrowth Laser Work?
Lasers in aesthetic medicine operate at varying depths of penetration based upon their wavelength. In the case of Low level laser therapy for hair regrowth, this carefully measured laser energy typically penetrates a few millimeters into the scalp tissue. As a result the laser energy is absorbed by deeper cell structures, thus positively affecting targeted hair follicles. This gentle and continuous pulsing laser energy results in a dramatic increase in blood circulation to the targeted area. This will promote not only a strengthening of existing hair structures, resulting in thicker and fuller looking hair, but also a resuscitation of previously dormant follicles, which promote regrowth of new hair!
4. Am I a Good Candidate For Symphony’s Hair Regrowth Laser?
Men and women of all ages, who are in the early stage s of hair loss, as well as women who experience general hair thinning, including sides, back, and top area of scalp, can benefit from Symphony’s Hair Regrowth Laser Treatments. With male pattern baldness, one should assess the degree of loss within the past 5 – 6 years, as this is typically the reversal and regrowth that Symphony will target to achieve. Hair loss preceding a 5 – 6 year period should not be expected to be recovered through these treatments. An initial free consultation, thorough evaluation, and diagnosis by our physician, or certified Symphony Clinician, will determine if the program is suitable for your type of hair loss and baldness.
5. How Soon Can I Expect to See Results?
Results vary depending on many factors, including the degree of hair loss of the patient, and how long they have been experiencing hair loss. However, reduction of hair loss usually occurs within the first two to three weeks after 5-6 treatments. Keep in mind that the initial benefit occurs beneath the scalp and within the hair follicle itself. Some patients do begin to experienced hair growth within five to six weeks, after 10-12 treatments. Through the course of successive treatments all users – men and women – usually notice progressively increasing benefits from Symphony’s Low Level Laser Technology.

7. How Long Does a Treatment Take and How Many Treatments Do I Need?
An individual treatment typically takes 20 minutes. Although partial programs are available, to achieve the full benefits of laser hair regrowth therapy, a treatment program over a period of one year is recommended. Initially, a patient will undergo two treatments per week for the first three months. For the next three months, this will be reduced to one treatment per week. Over the course of a year, a patient will undergo approximately 70 treatments.
